The next team in our nostalgic look back at fixtures involving some of Vale`s League One opponents next season is Oldham Athletic.

Vale`s 3-2 victory largely thanks to the scorer of great goals, Tony Naylor, left the Valiants sitting in fifth spot in the Championship with only three matches remaining. However, John Rudge`s weary troops hobbled over the finishing line following defeats to fierce rivals Stoke City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and a final day draw at Crystal Palace.
