Pope In Team Of The Week (17/10/17)

Pope In Team Of The Week (17/10/17)

Port Vale are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Tom Pope in the three one victory over Cheltenham Town at the weekend at Vale Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Pope was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Another man at the double was Pope, whose two goals against Cheltenham Town went a long way to ending Port Vale`s 11-game wait for a win. The 3-1 success gave Neil Aspin a first win as Valiants manager, and took his side out of the Sky Bet League Two relegation zone.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Pope for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Dan Bentley (Brentford), Leandro Bacuna (Reading), Ben Richards-Everton (Accrington Stanley), Chris Basham (Sheffield United), Matty Taylor (Swindon Town), Diogo Jota (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Luke Berry (Luton Town), Sammy Ameobi (Bolton Wanderers), Oliver Hawkins (Portsmouth), Tom Pope (Port Vale), Padraig Amond (Newport County).

Manager - Steve Cotterill (Birmingham City).
