Vale v Walsall Preview
The Valiants will look to build on Saturday`s creditable draw with Brentford when they turn to League Cup duty against Walsall.
The competition hasn`t historically been favourable to the Valiants, though they will be keen to make progress both for financial and footballing reasons. Micky Adams looks set to have the same squad to choose from, although he may opt to make a couple of changes. Daniel Jones suffered no ill effects despite missing the majority of pre-season, though a thumb injury seemed to hamper him during the closing stages. Assistant manager Mark Grew told the Official Site that they hadn`t settled upon the starting eleven as of yet. "We will be having a little think about it in the next few hours and so the lads don`t know the side for tomorrow night yet.
"Anybody on that bench has got vast experience. If you look at that bench on Saturday, they have all got a lot of league games, so I wouldn`t call them fringe players, they are squad players.
"They are all raring to get their chance and whichever team we put out tomorrow night won`t be weakened at all."
Dean Smith`s side kicked off the campaign in fine style defeating Tranmere Rovers 3-1 on Saturday. There may have been some trepidation among Saddlers supporters owing to the departures of Will Grigg, Febian Brandy and Jamie Paterson over the summer. However, the new look strike partnership of Craig Westcarr and Chelsea loanee Milan Lalkovic proved fruitful.
A reminder that the game will kick off at 7.45pm not 7.30pm as advertised elsewhere.
