Injury Boost For Vale

Vale boss Micky Adams may head into Saturday`s opening day fixture against Brentford with the luxury of a fully fit squad. Liam Chilvers and Daniel Jones have both returned to training, and while a start against the Bees may not be realistic, their return is certainly a timely boost as a number of defensive injuries have hampered Vale`s recent preparations.

Chilvers will turn out for Vale against Stafford Rangers this evening, while Jones has finally returned to training following a thigh strain. Assistant manager Mark Grew told The Sentinel"Dan has improved a lot and had his first session in a long time today.

"If he trains all week, he could be in contention for Saturday."

Should Jones not make it, then Carl Dickinson is likely to occupy the left back berth.
