Morsy Completes Chesterfield Move

Morsy Completes Chesterfield Move

Sam Morsy has completed his move to League Two Chesterfield. The midfielder had rejected the offer of a new two year contract to remain in the Potteries in search of regular first team football.

The Spireites initial offer for the 21 year old was rejected by the Valiants. However, a deal has subsequently been agreed and Morsy has wasted little time in agreeing terms. Having impressed during the early part of last season, Morsy appeared to fall out of favour with manager Micky Adams after his sending off against Rochdale, which the Vale boss labelled 'cowardly`. A spate of yellow cards did little to improve his disciplinary record and he struggled to regain Adams` trust entirely during the remainder of the campaign. After being with the club from the age of 16 it comes as a disappointment that Morsy wasn`t able to develop his talent fully with the Vale.

With Chesterfield active in the summer transfer market, having already brought in the likes of Jimmy Ryan and Gary Roberts, they look a decent bet for promotion next season. Morsy revealed his association with manager Paul Cook was a factor his decision to sign. "I`ve known the manager for a number of years and I know his philosophy. That was a big factor in my decision to sign."

"I know the ambition of the club and I want to be a part of it."

We wish Sam all the best in his future career.
