Dickinson Still The Real Deal For Vale?
With Vale boss Micky Adams on the hunt for new signings ahead of the new season, one man who could be a part of things is the former Southend United striker Liam Dickinson.
Dickinson came close to signing for the Valiants last summer. However, complications arising from his recovery from a broken ankle put paid to that, with a further operation eventually being required. The striker who was the subject of a £750,000 move from Stockport County to Derby County is not yet fully fit, but Adams told The Sentinel
"Liam is one of a number of players we're looking at,' said Adams. 'He joined us last pre-season, but it didn't work out for him.
"He went off and had another ankle operation and he's still not 100 per cent fit.
"If his ankle is good and he has a reasonable amount of fitness, we are in the driving seat to sign him because we know him.
"But whether or not he starts pre-season with us, I don't know."
There must be some doubt as to Dickinson`s ability to get back to his best after such a long time out, but who would provide Vale with an interesting option should he impress over the summer.
