Trio Sign New Deals

Trio Sign New Deals

Ben Williamson, Louis Dodds and Adam Yates have become the latest Vale players to sign new deals. The trio were out of contract, but have all committed their futures to the club.

Williamson has signed a two year deal, while Dodds and Yates have one year contracts with the option of a further year. Yates, in particular, enjoyed arguably the best form of his career over the second half of last season. Filling in initially at left back, before replacing Richard Duffy in his preferred position, he was one of Vale`s more consistent performers during a tense run in.

Dodds will continue to provide some much needed versatility, which will surely be required in League One. Vale`s best performances arguably came with the 26 year old being deployed off Tom Pope in attack, but he also admirably filled in in central midfield and on both flanks. Williamson continues to improve and with gives Micky Adams a different option from the bench. The Vale boss will be hoping he can continue to learn from the likes of Lee Hughes.

It leaves just skipper Doug Loft and midfielders Chris Birchall and Sam Morsy pondering their contract offers. Adams told the Official Site "It's great that all three have agreed to sign and reaffirm their commitment to the club.

"We are continuing to speak to a number of players about contracts and hope to have more positive news sooner rather than later."
