Pope Nominated For Award

Tom Pope has been shortlisted for the nPower League Two player of the year award. He will face competition from Exeter City striker Jamie Cureton and Bradford City midfielder Gary Jones for the award, which is voted by managers of League Two and will be announced on Sunday evening.

Pope`s 27 goals this season have played an instrumental role in Vale`s challenge for promotion and would mark quite a turnaround for a player who many thought might have been released last summer. Despite a recent barren spell, Pope will be eyeing up a return to goal scoring form against Aldershot Town on Saturday - a team managed by former Rotherham United boss Andy Scott, with whom it would be fair to say Pope didn`t enjoy the best of relationships.

Here`s hoping Vale will be celebrating a successful weekend. Congratulations and good luck to Tom.
