Vale have moved to re-sign former midfielder Anthony Griffith in a bid to halt their stuttering promotion push.
Griffith left Vale Park in the summer in a move to League One side Leyton Orient. However, since being dropped by manager Russell Slade, the 26 year old has struggled to regain a place in the Orient first team. Although many feel that Vale have improved as a result of Griffith`s departure, his physical presence and combative attitude may just be what the side need in the short term at least. The Vale have frequently been overrun by teams that play the extra man in midfield and although Griffith alone can`t make much difference to that, he will certainly give the midfield extra bite and protection to the back four.
The Vale boss will be hoping for some improved performances from his attacking quartet as well as the Valiants seek to end a sequence of three defeats in four games when they entertain Capital Cup Runners up Bradford City tomorrow night. Lee Hughes will be among those hoping for a recall, though the return of Louis Dodds to the side may help bring the best out of Tom Pope, who is in the middle of a rare barren spell.
Adams told the Official Site "Griff's battling qualities are an asset to any squad and he will be no stranger to Vale fans as a former Player of the Year.
"He knows the club and he knows the majority of the players which will help him to settle in quickly and hit the ground running."
