Vale Look To Extend Lead

Following Gillingham`s loss last night, Micky Adams` side have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of League Two and exert some real pressure on the chasing pack. The Valiants have not always reacted positively to the extra pressure of being front runners, however.

Tonight`s visitors are an AFC Wimbledon side that caused the Vale a number of problems during the first half of the reverse fixture last week, racing into a 2-0 lead before Vale hit back to earn a deserved point. Neal Ardley has strengthened his side since with the signings of Harry Pell from Hereford United (suspended tonight) and the vastly experienced goal scorer Gary Alexander, who has joined on loan from Crawley Town. He will partner Jack Midson up front, who will be looking to continue his annoying record of scoring goals against the Vale.

Both Louis Dodds and Rob Taylor have returned to full training, although are still unlikely to be risked, so Adams looks set to name the side which ran out comfortable winners against Accrington Stanley on Saturday

A reminder, that the game has reduced ticket prices. Adults and Senior Citizens can buy a ticket for £10 (£11 in the Lorne Street), while it is £1 for those under 9 years old. So make sure you shave!
