Grew Hits Out After Morsy Red

Assistant manager Mark Grew hit out at midfielder Sam Morsy after the midfielder`s sending off contributed to Vale letting slip a two goal lead against Rochdale. The Valiants appeared to be in cruise control following two more goals from the increasingly prolific Tom Pope. That was until Morsy`s rash challenge on Jason Kennedy dramatically altered the game. Morsy will now serve his second suspension in recent weeks, whilst also being fortunate to escape red cards on previous occasions, notably in the win over Oxford United. Grew believes this is something that the youngster urgently needs to address. Speaking to the Official site, he stated: ""There is tackling and there is being stupid. Maybe three or four years ago that wouldn`t have been a sending off but today if you raise your studs ,even if you don`t catch the lad, you`ve got a chance of being sent off.

"He has got to learn from it and learn from it quickly or it is going to cost him dearly. It is certainly going to cost him his place and the gaffer, as you can imagine, is not too happy with him."

Vale may feel aggrieved that similar treatment, in particular meted out to winger Jennison Myrie-Williams went unpunished. However, that is successive league games where Vale have been hampered by sendings off. With Doug Loft injured after aggravating his calf strain and John McCombe, Gareth Owen and Richard Duffy all missing for Saturday`s trip to Southend United, Vale are in some urgent need of fresh blood. The Football League are expected to discuss Paul Wildes' takeover at tomorrow`s monthly board meeting, a move that can`t come quickly enough.
