Vale In Double Award

The Valiants have been handed a boost ahead of Monday night`s televised game against Oxford United after both Micky Adams and Tom Pope were handed awards. Adams has been named as the npower manager of the month for September, while striker Pope was handed the player award. Vale`s form has seen them climb to second place in League Two, trailing only Martin Allen`s Gillingham in the table.

Pope`s seven goals for the month, including four against his former club Rotherham had made him the obvious choice for the player gong. Panel member Alan Curbishley commented on the award: "Micky`s side have certainly impressed so far this season and recording 18 goals in just 6 games in September alone, make this award truly deserving for Port Vale. They still trail Gillingham in the league, but if they can maintain this form, they`ll certainly be challenging for the title come the end of the season."
