Davis Agrees New Deal

Joe Davis has agreed a new two year deal with the club ending speculation linking him with a move to Crewe Alexandra, where his father Steve is manager. The 18 year old made an impressive introduction to first team football towards the end of last season which earned him the Young Player of the Season award and looks destined for a bright future in the game. Davis may have to bide his time for a regular spot in the starting line-up, however. With Gareth Owen recovered from injury, John McCombe and Clayton McDonald all vying for a place in the side. Vale boss Micky Adams told the Official Site : 'We look forward to Joe returning from holiday and signing his new deal, which was never in doubt.

'Joe has excellent potential, which has been reflected in a number of his performances this season.'

Adams is now only waiting on news from goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson who is yet to make a decision on his future.
